Oh yeah, that phrase has seen so much classic comic hilarity. The original film was "The day the Earth stood still", generally accepted as the first great Sci-Fi movie. It has since seen use in a multitude of shows, movies, and games, like Return of the Jedi and the game you're talking about "Sam and Max Hit the Road".

Probably the best known incarnation of this is Army of Darkness, which is probably what this is from "Klaatu...Verada...Necktie!" as Ash screws it up again and again before the undead rise up to slaghter all. Brilliant!

Also, this is where the Tyrian Necromancer Verata got his name, along with the few Necro skills
